Open Up..Empty Your Cup! ~ Why you should “empty your cup”

I was talking to someone today about first impressions.  It is hard sometimes to get the right take on a person the first time you encounter them.  For all you know, it could be in the middle of the worst period of their life.  What if the reason you are being thrown together with this person is for their need of a skill that you possess?  Your ability to pick yourself up by your bootstraps, dust yourself off and carry on, may be a talent they never learned.  Could it be divine intervention for you to teach this skill to them, while in turn you will be left with a few gifts from them?  It seems there is much more learning exchanged in life than what goes on at schools.  We seem to learn from our peers throughout our lives.

I am a very open person.  I strive for it.  I do have my times of wanting to hide away and lock everyone out.  There are definite times when I want to go a whole day without talking to a single sole.  Sometimes a whole weekend will go by and I won't have talked to any of my friends.  I have thought myself to be a perfect candidate for one of those island escape jobs.  Perfect for that, but far from perfect.  A retreat to an island or the woods to stay there locked away from the world for three months would be fantastic at first thought.  I think I would be fine for the first month.  Okay, maybe just first week to weekend, and then after that I would need my facebook & google buzz.    Then I would need more!  I admit that as much as I enjoy my quiet time, I really am a people person.  I enjoy the company of others.  Even if it is just small talk and getting to know what makes them tick.  I enjoy finding out about them and how they live.  To me I think we all are different wonderfully unique incredible people who can offer the world and each other so much.  To stay closed off with a full cups means we do not want more.  It also really means we have no more to give.  I would rather say that I am broken than to not be a giving person.

In some ways I believe you have to completely lose everything and become broken before you really know what you want and what you have to offer.  Or until you know how much room you have to fill and how much you can give.  I have gone through this transformation a time or two.  It isn't very fun.  At the same time however, I have learned much about the amazing blessings of friendships I have gained in this life.  I have also learned how strong I am as a person and just how capable I am.

There is always a bubbly side... a Sunny side of the street!  Enjoy the attached blog!  Enjoy your weekend!
